HGE Care is a system that guides users through a smart-phone application questionnaire (Check-In) to collect, track, and trend daily respiratory symptoms.
Each day the user will complete a “Check-In” – a series of questions about their current respiratory symptoms. The same questions will be asked every day. For the first two weeks, the application will learn from the responses and determine the users “typical symptoms.” After that, if a change from the “typical symptoms” is detected, the application will provide feedback to health care providers. Health care providers are then instructed to rely upon their clinical judgment when making treatment recommendations to patients and need to contact patients directly before making any decision or change regarding patient care. The application does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. The system is intended to be used by patients as a support tool to track respiratory symptoms, like COPD, as part of their personal disease management plan.
*HGE Care is not intended to provide real-time monitoring, is not an alarm system and may not be used to receive real-time or time-sensitive communication. HGE Care should not be used as a substitute for professional health care judgment and should not be used for direct diagnosis or monitoring purposes. Only a health care provider should interpret the patient-reported data. The ability to message via the system is only an additional means for communicating with the patient and should not replace standard medical practice.
